Longtime SSGN volunteer surveyor Maria Mudd Ruth has written a new book celebrating the seabird we all love: The Bird with Flaming Red Feet: Seasons with an Uncommonly Common Seabird. Released on April 7th, this lively natural history draws on over a decade of beachside study surveying Pigeon Guillemots on Eld Inlet.

Maria beautifully weaves together science, field observations, and the inspiring stories of the passionate community scientists—just like us—who have built a unique community around studying and caring for this vibrant bird.
